Contract Success with OxBox at Oxford Biomedica

Validair Monitoring Solutions Ltd (VMSL) has been contracted to provide environmental monitoring systems for the new ‘OxBox’ facility at Oxford Biomedica. This is the largest single FMS monitoring system order we have been contracted to deliver in our history. It's also the largest single system order from any TSI Channel Partner across TSI's entire Global Chain.

It comes on the back of successful Validair partnerships at Oxford Biomedica’s original facilities with the supply and support of FMS solutions. The new contract sees VMSL working in conjunction with WHP Engineering Ltd (WHP), the supplier undertaking the comprehensive repurposing of the OxBox premises at Oxford Business Park, as well as the complete fit-out of new cleanrooms and related systems and services. The new 84,000 sq.ft. (7,800m2) OxBox facility was formerly a Royal Mail sorting office. The refit contract includes offices, warehousing, laboratories and 45,000 sq. feet of cleanroom suites. It will more than double Oxford Biomedica’s bioprocessing capacity.

VMSL has supported Oxford Biomedica for several years with monitoring systems in its existing premises, during which time the ground-breaking gene and cell-based therapy product manufacturer has enjoyed substantial growth and consolidated its market presence. As a result, VMSL expanded its support infrastructure and service delivery to the company, moving its relationship to full partnership status.

The new OxBox contract includes the deployment of a range of services and licencing solutions:

  • 9 x FMS control panels
  • 9 x Auto-Diallers for out of hours remote alarming
  • 9 x TSI FMS software licences with a total of 1000 sample points
  • 26 x TSI FMS client licences
  • 3 x TSI FMS buddy licences
  • 2 x TSI 9510-02 portable particle counters

In addition, equipment lists to be installed across the OxBox facility include:

  • 38 x AeroTrak+ remote particle counters
  • 32 x temperature & humidity sensors
  • 71 x temperature sensors
  • 48 x simulation temperature probes
  • 13 x CO2 sensors
  • 137 x pressure sensors
  • 29 x alarm beacons

“We are delighted to be working alongside WHP and are proud to be associated with this inspiring new OxBox project,” says Steve Wake, MD at Validair Monitoring Solutions Ltd. “We look forward to strengthening our continuing relationship with Oxford Biomedica by delivering and supporting the industry-leading facility monitoring solutions that this dynamic company needs to stay at the forefront of its field.”
